The Short Version

CanopyOS is built to keep your data on your device. Your intentions, reflections, energy logs, and voice captures are stored locally on your iPhone and are not sent to us or to any server we operate. We do not have a CanopyOS account system, we do not run analytics or advertising, and we do not sell or share your personal information. The sections below explain the details.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Intentions and Reflections: The Canopy intentions, daily intentions, and reflections you enter in the App.
  • Energy Logs: Energy levels, mood check-ins, and any notes you choose to record.
  • Voice Captures (“Understory”): Short voice notes you record. Both the audio and its transcription stay on your device (see “Microphone and Speech” below).
  • Preferences: Settings you configure within the App, such as schedules and reminders.

All of the above is stored locally on your device. We do not receive a copy.

Information We Do Not Collect

CanopyOS does not include analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting services. We do not collect usage data, device identifiers, or a profile of how you use the App. There is no CanopyOS server that receives your information.

Microphone and Speech

If you use the Understory voice-capture feature, CanopyOS records short audio notes using your microphone. Transcription is performed entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device Speech framework. Your audio and transcripts are never uploaded to us or to any third party. You can delete a clip’s audio at any time in the App; the transcript remains on your device until you delete it too.

Apple Health

With your explicit permission, CanopyOS reads Apple Health data — such as sleep and activity — to help you understand your energy patterns. If you choose to log a mood check-in, CanopyOS can write a “State of Mind” entry back to Apple Health. Health data is processed on your device. In accordance with Apple’s requirements, CanopyOS never uses Health data for advertising or marketing, never shares it with third parties for data mining, and never stores it in iCloud or any cloud service. You can revoke Health access at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Calendar Connections

CanopyOS can optionally connect to a calendar so it can block focus time for you. Connecting a calendar is not required to use the App.

  • Apple Calendar: Access is managed through Apple’s EventKit framework with your explicit permission and stays on your device.
  • Google Calendar: If you connect Google Calendar, authentication is handled through Google’s OAuth 2.0. We request read-only access to your calendar list and the ability to add focus-time events. The access token is stored securely on your device (in the iOS Keychain) and is never sent to a CanopyOS server. Your use of Google Calendar is also subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time in the App, which revokes CanopyOS’s access to your Google account.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to third parties. Your data remains on your device unless you explicitly choose to connect a third-party service (Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Apple Health), in which case data is exchanged only with that service, only as needed, and under that service’s own privacy terms.

Your Rights and Choices

  • View all of your data within the App.
  • Delete all of your data using the “Delete All Data” option in Settings. Because your data lives on your device, deleting it in the App removes it.
  • Disconnect Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Apple Health at any time — from within the App, or through the iOS Settings app.
  • Delete a voice clip’s audio while keeping (or also removing) its transcript.

Data Retention

Your data is retained on your device until you delete it, either individually or via “Delete All Data,” or until you delete the App. We do not retain copies, because we never receive your data.

Not a Medical Service

CanopyOS is a wellness and focus tool. It is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional medical or mental-health care. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide advice for any medical or psychological condition. If you have health concerns, please consult a qualified professional.

Children’s Privacy

CanopyOS is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last Updated” date above.
